GOVERNMENT COMPUTING: University of Manchester study to help prevent cardiac patients’ hospital admissions

A new study at the University of Manchester will examine cardiac patients’ activity levels with the help of pacemakers to ascertain who are at highest risk of frailty and help them avoid prolonged stays in hospitals.

The British Heart Foundation-funded study, which is assisted by Medtronic, is aimed at providing support to senior citizens living with cardiac disease and heart failure.

The pacemakers are expected to assess the patients’ heart condition, with an early healthcare intervention by the doctors to treat the patient before it becomes too late.
