Narrative
Population ageing poses a significant challenge for modern societies, especially when coupled with increasing urbanisation. Research exploring the relationship between these major social trends by Dr Tine Buffel and Professor Chris Phillipson has yielded impact by:1. developing new models for collaborative engagement, leading to increased engagement of older people in shaping policies within their communities in Greater Manchester;
2. shaping policy and practice aimed at improving older people’s quality of life through innovative partnerships at the level of local and regional government;
3. influencing the international policy debate on developing age-friendly cities in the Global North and South.
