Personal profile

Overview

I am a clinician (MBBS, 2012), specialised in Allergy and Clinical Immunology in Italy (PGDip, 2018), who developed an interest in basic immunology research.

In 2025, I completed my PhD at The University of Manchester (MRC-DTP), focusing on the role of mast cells in health and disease. In particular, I focused on the impact of multiple cytokines in shaping mast cell immune responses, and identifying unique cytokine-driven signatures in different tissues and diseases using omics and machine learning approaches. During my PhD, I was co-Investigator on a grant awarded by the North West Lung Centre charity to study mast cell subpopulations in the lung of patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease using imaging mass cytometry. Furthermore, in 2023 I was awarded a BRC-Next Generation Therapeutics Pump Priming grant to study novel strategies to inhibit mast cell activation in food allergy.

My current role as Research Associate focuses on the use of mast cell activation tests to improve food allergy diagnosis (MRC-funded project).

My research interests are mast cells biology, novel targeted inhibitory strategies and the translation of omics results for clinical applications in the field of allergy, skin and respiratory diseaseas.
