Biography

I completed a BSc in Psychology with Professional Development (thin-sandwich degree) at Brunel University in 2005, followed by an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2009. Both accredited by the British Psychological Society. I have substantial experience in applied healthcare research across the NHS and Higher Education Institutions. I have a background in clinical health psychology, working on interventional randomised controlled trials, and interests in women's healthcare, mental & physical health, and public health topics. 

I am currently completing a part-time PhD in Health Psychology entitled: "Improving Equity of Access to National Breast Screening Programmes for Ethnic Minority Women". My supervisory team are Professor David French (Professor in Health Psychology & primary supervisor), Dr Omolade Allen (Lecturer in Global Health), and Dr Gillian Hutchison (Consultant Radiologist). 

I also work part-time as a Associate Lecturer & Research Associate.

Research Associate: March 2025 - present | PREVENT-Breast-Proactive Risk Evaluation for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in younger women: Introducing a breast cancer risk assessment into the NHS for women under 50 years of age: a focus group and co-design study - this strand of the study has a focus on the Roma community (Chief Investigators, Prof David French & Dr Victoria Woof).

Research Associate: 2024 | Manchester Intermittent Diet in Gestational Diabetes Acceptability Study (MIDDAS-GDM): A Randomised Feasibility Trial of an Intermittent Low-Energy Diet (ILED) in women with Gestational Diabetes and Obesity (Chief Investigators, Prof Michelle Harvie & Dr Basil Issa).

Other research

Received £24,141 via the NHS Research Capability Funding (RCF) to prepare my own NIHR Doctoral Fellowship application proposing to investigate trauma-informed care for recurrent miscarriage (plus £300 from the research design service to support patient and public engagement activities). I completed and submitted my application but was not successful but later applied for the above PhD in autumn 2022.
