Overview

Helen is a lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester. Helen's research focuses on the legal position of cohabitants and the engagement with the European Convention on Human Rights in this area. Her current research projects focus on how human rights argumentation can be used to secure greater legal protections for cohabitants and have both a domestic and European focus. 

Helen obtained her PhD from Durham University in 2024, entitled 'Reconceptualising the Cohabitation Debate as a Human Rights Issue'. This was funded by the Durham Law School Studentship and awarded with no corrections. While undertaking her PhD at Durham University, Helen tought Property Law and Family Law, before taking up a lecturership at De Montfort University in 2022. Following the completition of her PhD, Helen moved to the University of Manchester in 2024.
