PhD projects

Please contact me if you are interested in PhD opportunities. I am particularly interested in the following themes with a focus on freshwater systems and bluespaces, but open to discussion.

- Ecosystem functioning with reference to ecosystem resilience, functional traits and trait diversity
- Community ecology including the local and landscape scale factors that influence how and why communities assemble
- The relationship people have with nature, their connection, and how ecosystems are valued by local communities
- Soundscapes and their role in both ecosystem monitoring (i.e., bioacoustics and ecoacoustics) and how sound can evoke emotional responses in people
- The inclusion of the general public in science including citizen science, community based monitoring, participatory science etc.
- The process of urbanisation and its influence upon any of the above themes.
