Martyna is a PhD student in the Maternal and Fetal Computational Biology Group and Nutrition Research Group in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. She works with epidemiological and clinical data using her analytical and bioinformatic skills.
Martyna graduated with a BSc degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. During her studies, she was engaged in the Nutrigenomics Research Society in the project analysing mutation in the vitamin D receptor gene in Parkinson’s Disease. During her MRes in Clinical Research, Martyna analysed metabolom of severely malnourished children from Uganda as a part of clinical trial investigating the effects of legume-based nutritional therapy that could improve the gut function (https://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN10309022). During her Doctoral Training Program, she used cohort data to investigate genetic propensity, socioeconomic position and trajectories of depression with usage of Polygenic Risk Scores. For her PhD project, Martyna is analyzing transcriptomics and growth trajectories in offspring during and after pregnancy with the effects of early life exposures such as diet and food insecurity.
