Pei-Yu holds a PhD in Innovation Management and an MSc in Knowledge and Information Systems Management from the University of Southampton.

Her research interests lie in innovation, productivity, and regional development, with a particular focus on research collaboration and the role of public funding in supporting place-based economic growth.

She recently focuses on applying AI methods to analyse UKRI-funded projects in the Gateway to Research (GtR) database to identify R&D funding patterns and examine the connectivity of knowledge networks, particularly in the Agri-tech sector—one of the UK’s priority technologies for sustainable innovation and food security. Her work also explores public procurement contracts to identify procurement for innovation.
