Overview

Dr. Sönke Mestwerdt is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Entrepreneurship at Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK, and Research Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship at EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey, México. He previously held academic roles at ESCP Business School, The University of Southern California, and The University of Glasgow. His research focuses on impact entrepreneurship in emerging economies, with a comparative, practice-oriented approach.

His work is regularly funded by external grants, presented at international conferences (i.e., BCERC, AOM, RENT, SEC, USASBE, ...), and published in international, peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of World Business, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy, and more.

Beyond academia, he works with entrepreneurs and has mentored founders in global incubation programs, including Blue Factory (ESCP) and Brittingham Social Impact Lab (USC). He has also worked in global startups as an advisor, business development manager, and ecosystem manager in the UK and Germany.
