Dr. Samira Malekmohammadi is a materials chemist specializing in the synthesis and characterization of polymers, nanocomposites, and 2D materials. With a PhD in Chemistry, her research spans materials science, biomedical applications, and sustainability.
Samira works on the Centre of Expertise in Advanced Materials and Sustainability (CEAMS) project at the Henry Royce Institute and the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) at the University of Manchester. CEAMS focuses on sustainable technologies, innovative materials, and recycling strategies. Samira leads research projects, collaborates with academic and industry partners, and applies life cycle assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of materials. She has also worked with leading organizations, including CPI, NPL, MTC, NCC, and Catapult centers.
Previously, Samira held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Manchester, where she developed biocompatible and sustainable polymers for biomedical applications. She also has been researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), focusing on designing sustainable nanocomposites for energy and bioapplications.
Throughout her career in the UK, she has actively collaborated with academic and industrial leaders, including CPI, NPL, MTC, NCC, and Catapult centers.
In addition to her research, she actively engages in academia as a co-supervisor for master’s and Ph.D. students. She also serves as a reviewer and guest editor for several journals shaping critical discussions in sustainability and nanotechnology.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
