Zhenhong Li is currently a Lecturer in Robotics and Control at the University of Manchester (UoM) holding an EPSRC Fellowship on physical human-robot interaction. He received the B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2013, and the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in Control Engineering from the UoM in 2014 and 2019, respectively. Before joining UoM in 2023, he was a Research Fellow in Rehabilitation Robotics at the University of Leeds from 2019 to 2023. He is an IEEE Senior Member and severs as Associate Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters.
He has authored and co-authored over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and has closely engaged with healthcare professionals, local and international industries, product designers for multidisciplinary projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), and Wellcome Trust. He received the Best Paper Award for Unmanned Systems in 2019, Two Best Paper Award at IEEE Conferences the EPS International Academic Pump-priming Award in 2020.
Zhenhong leads Neurorobotics Lab (NRL) at UoM. For more information please refer to Zhenhong's personal webpage and Neurorobotics Lab.
His research focuses on developing innovative control technologies for multi-robot systems and human-robot systems with broad applications in industry and healthcare. His research interests include physical human-robot interaction for rehabilitation and industrial robots; multimodal brain-computer interfaces for robot control and brain monitoring. In general, he is particularly interested in taking highly multidisciplinary approaches to better understand human systems and develop intelligent interaction strategies for robotic devices.
