Abstract

This chapter explores race and racism in Counselling Psychology (CoP) training. Though it focuses specifically on the context of training in the United Kingdom (UK), there are takeaways applicable to training pathways for applied psychology and in other contexts. The key points of discussion will be the training context for CoP in the UK, the significance of discussing racism in CoP training, the concept of safe spaces and decolonising the curriculum, and the counternarratives of race and racism within CoP training.
