Biography
Dr Haleema Sadia (SFHEA) holds a PhD in education from the University of Manchester and an additional doctorate in interfaith from Pakistan. She is a Lecturer in International Education at the University of Manchester. Her unique academic trajectory and personal experience as a woman of colour who overcame significant cultural barriers shape her perspective on inclusive education. This diverse background enables her to support international students and promote inclusive practices in higher education.
Research Interests
Dr Sadia's primary research interests centre around enhancing the educational experiences of international postgraduate students. Her doctoral research examined international students' changing identities in transition to UK higher education through a socio-cultural lens. She has a strong foundation in using visual methods for data collection, including photo-elicitation, timeline and concept mapping. Moreover, she has extensive experience with using NVivo for qualitative analysis. Her recent projects, including 'PGReturn', 'Career Scape', and 'Finscape', emphasise student inclusion in higher education.
Expertise in NVivo Software
Haleema possesses extensive expertise in NVivo software, a vital tool for qualitative data analysis. She co-leads with Dr Pauline Prevett, the NVivo Training Resource Site, which features over 100 instructional videos, PowerPoint presentations, images, exercises, and other valuable resources. Pauline and Haleema run the SEED NVivo User Group, conduct university-wide two-day, and one-day NVivo training for postgraduate researchers and staff. In addition, they run a comprehensive four-day NVivo training course for national and international participants. These trainings enable participants to effectively analyse qualitative data and achieve meaningful results.
