1979 BA (Hons) Modern History and Politics (Upper Second) Liverpool University.
1980 PGCE History Liverpool University.
1990 MSc Educational Management CNAA.
1999 PhD An Intellectual History of the Field of Education Management from 1960 Keele University.

2020 Doctor of Social Science The Education Policy Knowledgeable Polity (EPKP) project:  a contribution to critical education policy scholarship. The University of Manchester. 

 

Research interests

My main interest is in the politics of knowledge production within and for education policy. I work with social and political theories of power, particularly in regard to the study of educational leadership. I have led and participated in a range of ESRC and BA funded projects regarding this focus, with a range of monographs being produced.

I am co-convenor of the European network: LE@DS - Leading Education and Democratic Schools.

My main area of teaching is with in-service educational professionals who wish to undertake masters and doctoral degrees in the area of education policy, leadership and management.
