Ruth Ledder is a senior lecturer within the Microbiology Research Group. Ruth joined the group in 1999 as a Research Technician undertaking industrially funded work focussing on the in vitro modelling and culture independent characterisation of bacterial biofilms. During this period she completed her undergraduate degree in Microbiology through part-time study. She became a full time postgraduate student in 2003 and a post-doctoral researcher in 2006. She secured an academic position in 2008. Her research work has focussed largely on the ecology, physiology and pathogenicity of bacteria associated with the human mouth in health and disease. She leads the MPharm with a keen interest in innovative and interactive teaching methods that support the student learning experience.
