Harnessing real-world datasets to build evidence for improved clinical management for people with rheumatoid arthritis and type 2 diabetes mellitus

Multimorbidity means living with two or more long-term conditions, for example, people with both rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and type-2 diabetes (T2D). This multimorbidity reduces quality of life, limits employment and productivity, and complicates treatment. Addressing multimorbidity is a shared research priority for both RA and T2D communities. Yet evidence is limited: most studies focus on single diseases and clinical services treat RA and T2D separately. This project will address two questions:

1) Do RA treatments help prevent or control/worsen T2D?
2) Which treatment combinations work better for people with RA and T2D?
