Mental Health Research Group

Project Details

Description

The Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) is led by Dr Amy Blakemore and Dr James Gilleen. The Group has an established international reputation and provides a vibrant, active, and supportive research environment for interdisciplinary mental health research.

The MHRG aims to undertake and disseminate high-quality national and international research that both informs and responds to contemporary developments in mental health policy, practice, and education. Its research is grounded in psychosocial models of mental health, with a particular emphasis on social, cognitive, and behavioural approaches.

The Group’s work is strengthened through multidisciplinary collaboration with local, national, and international partners. This includes close partnerships with NHS trusts across England, mental health charities, and service user and carer organisations, supporting research that is both clinically relevant and responsive to the priorities of communities and partner organisations.
