Biography

Elizabeth is a lecturer in Healthcare Sciences for the i3HS hub and in Public Health. She is the course unit lead for Global Women's Public Health and Health Systems Challenges in Low and Middle Income Countries. She leads on the sociological and public health input into the undergraduate medical degree at Manchester (MBChB).

She is interested broadly in inequalities in health and social care with specific interests in violence against women and girls, global women's health, health systems challenges in low and middle income countries and the intersection of health and social care policy and practice. She has undertaken research examining social class, inequality and austerity and how these areas interact with access to health and social care.

She is Chair and Founder of SHERA Research Group
Leading Global, Innovative Research into the Health, Social, Human Rights and Economic Impacts of Domestic Abuse / Violence on Women and Children broadly, with a focus on the impact of Family Court Proceedings on Women and Children.

She is currently leading several national and international projects including investigating how Covid has impacted upon health and social care services from a carer/professional and patient/service user perspective and mothers experiences of domestic violence and family court proceedings in England and Brazil.

She has previously taught qualitative methodology, critical psychology and sociology at undergraduate and postgraduate level and received her qualitative methodology training from Oxford University.
